If opening Canva to create another social media post makes you want to fake your own death…

Just know: you’re not alone.

There’s a support group.

We meet on Zoom.

It’s called Design Like Butter, and it’s going to show you so much more than “how to create a mood board.”

A live workshop for DIY business owners who don’t want to spend hours editing one Instagram post.

Design doesn’t have to feel like punishment.

Or a guessing game.

Or a disorienting fog bank of fonts, templates, and “is this even on brand?”

You didn’t start your business to become a graphic designer on top of everything else.

But here you are—staring at Canva, tweaking and re-tweaking, wondering:

Does this even look good?
Does this make sense?
Is this even worth posting?

If you’ve ever felt stuck, unsure, or just plain frustrated trying to create branded visuals that look good and work well—this is your starting point.

What You’ll Learn

This isn’t a Pinterest board or a branding deep-dive.

It’s practical design skills for everyday entrepreneurs who want to feel confident making better visuals and putting them out in the world.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Think like a designer (without being one)—so your content looks intentional, not accidental

  • Communicate clearly with visuals—not just decorate a post

  • Use a simple 5-step process that helps you edit, finalize, and actually feel good when you share your work

  • Train your eye to spot what’s off and fix it

  • Create content that’s easier to read, easier to post, and easier for people to trust

What You’ll Walk Away With:

A method you can reuse across platforms and formats

Stronger design instincts—and less second-guessing

Skills from having a chance to design with real time support

⚡A fresh sense of visual clarity (and relief)

What to Expect

This is a participatory workshop—meaning you’ll get to try things out as we go.

Because talking about design isn’t the same as working through a design.

You’ll be invited to walk through exercises, ask questions, and even edit a practice design during our time together.

Bring a laptop (or your large screen), have Canva open, and come ready to experiment.

You’ll leave with real experience—not just ideas to “figure out later.”

my 5 Step Method:

This is the basic structure we’ll use to help you design and edit with clarity, and stop guessing what “good” looks like.

Lesson 1: Is It Art or Design?
Learn the difference and why it matters for brand clarity, communication, and inclusion.

Lesson 2: Define Your Purpose & Make Text Legible
Get clear on what you're saying and how to make sure your audience can read it.

Lesson 3: Clear Visual Clutter
Reduce noise and distraction so your message actually gets through.

Lesson 4: Resize & Reconfigure
Play with layout and proportion to guide the eye and make your visuals feel balanced.

Lesson 5: Refine & Complete
Polish your design, check it across platforms, and save it as a reusable template.

You don’t need to become a designer to feel confident creating communications for your business—you just need enough clarity to trust yourself.

This workshop gives you the structure, support, and practice to do exactly that.

I’m an artist, non-denominational food lover, DIY entrepreneur, avid traveler, and air guitarist (who will also play air keys if the band needs it).

As a visual thinker, I literally see what people say.

It’s a skill I’ve honed over decades—turning my clients’ words into images that actually say something. Not just “pretty,” but purposeful.

I didn’t come to brand design through a corporate agency or a marketing firm.

My background is pure art.

Since graduating from art school 30 years ago, I’ve been the go-to for friends and collaborators who needed logos, band tees, album covers, websites, flyers—you name it.

For me, design is about expression and connection—not trickery in a sleek suit.

I believe your visuals should feel like you, not like you’re trying to sell timeshares on Instagram.

My Aha Moment!

In the last decade, I’ve been in all kinds of entrepreneurial spaces, working on passion projects that had nothing to do with design. But no matter what I was doing, people kept asking me about my visuals.

“How did you make your website look like that?”
“Can you design a logo for me too?”
“What programs do you use?”

At first, I didn’t think much of it—designing my own stuff had become second nature. But it wasn’t natural for everyone.

And most folks weren’t getting any real design guidance.

They were spending money hiring designers and then couldn’t edit their brand design on their own, or they were endlessly tweaking Canva templates with no framework for how to make them work..

It wasn’t their failing—it was a set of skills that was never taught.

That’s when I realized: I don’t just make visuals—I understand how to speak in visuals. And that’s something I can teach.

Why I Do This Work

Because even if you can afford a designer, you’ll still need to make stuff on your own.

And if you’re DIY-ing by choice, not just necessity? Even better.

You deserve skills that actually support you—not templates that become unrecognizable the second you switch to your brand fonts and colors.

I want your brand to reflect your style and land for your audience.

I want you to feel confident hitting “publish.”

And most of all—I want design to feel less like a grind and more fun.

That’s what this workshop is about–stopping the endless tweaking, and creating visuals that feel good and do their job.
