Brand Crafting Studio Membership – Community Agreements
Effective: 05/10/2025
Community Agreements must be adhered to as outlined below.
To keep this a supportive, creative, and productive space for everyone, here are the shared agreements we all observe and honor.
This is a working studio for art and design.
Our goal is to build each person’s ability to see, think, and make decisions about their own work.
Consent-Based, Skill-Building Feedback
The purpose of this community is to build one another’s ability to make decisions on our own.
“How to fix it” doesn’t build that muscle as well as describing how we are experiencing a design.
All feedback is offered with consent, not automatically.
Before giving suggestions, ask:
“I have an idea—are you open to hearing it?”
“Would it be helpful to hear how my eye is moving through this?”
We focus on how a design works rather than personal taste.
We use observations like:
What’s working?
What could be stronger?
What are three adjectives to describe this?
My eye goes…
We respond based on communication, hierarchy, clarity, and intention—not
“I like / I don’t like.”
We do not impose our opinions about what is “good,” “professional,” or “tasteful,” and we do not make fun of or put down other people’s work.
If something is not working, we discuss the design—not the person.
You always have the final say in your design choices.
Our goal is to help you be more intentional, not to make your work look like anyone else’s.
Respect Different Learning Styles & Access Needs
You are not required to be on camera.
You are welcome to:
use fidget tools
stand up, stretch, or move
turn your camera on or off as needed
take breaks
go to the bathroom
regulate your body in whatever way helps you stay present
If you prefer private feedback, you may use the chat or contact me by email after class.
Supporting your own access needs is encouraged.
Sharing is welcome but never required.
Respect Confidentiality & Consent
What’s shared in the group—and who is in the group—stays in the group.
Do not copy, screenshot, record, or share another member’s work.
Never put anyone’s work or words into AI without their explicit consent.
Respect Creative Ownership & Intellectual Property
Copying or stealing other people’s IP is unacceptable.
We protect each other’s creative labor.
Honor People’s Identities & Lived Experience
This space includes people across a spectrum of gender, race, class, ability, body size, and other differences, and prioritizes the safety of those who hold systemically marginalized identities.
Respect names and pronouns.
Listen when someone tells you you’ve been disrespectful or dismissive.
Design is cultural and shaped by lived experience.
Be Willing to Examine Your Own Bias
Our identities and privilege inform how we see the world and how we interpret images, type, symbols, and visual language.
Especially for those of us with more centered and, therefore, privileged identities, we practice receiving critique and feedback with grace and humility.
This includes being mindful of cultural appropriation.
We do not take, use, or remix visual language, symbols, or aesthetics from cultures that are not our own without context, relationship, permission, and understanding.
No Weight Loss / Diet Culture / Food Moralism
To support the well-being of everyone in this space, we do not discuss weight loss, dieting, or food moralizing.
This is not a pro-weight-loss community, and this boundary helps maintain the safety and care of fat folks and those in eating disorder recovery, while keeping our focus on the creative work we’re here to do.
The studio is Not a personal promotion space
While we do share information about our work in the studio, it is not a place to actively solicit, look for clients or promote your services. If people want to learn more about what you do, it’s preferable to do that outside of this studio space.
The Spirit of This Space
We are here to:
build visual decision-making skills
support one another’s creative process
practice critique that increases awareness
make intentional design choices
develop our own visual voices
Process over perfection.
Curiosity over judgment.
Agency over fixing.
5. Studio Sessions + Workshop Details
Studio Sessions occur twice monthly and are group-based.
Monthly Workshops are also group based
Replays will be available for participants.
You are encouraged to come with your screen ready to share and your design tools (e.g. Canva) open.
6. Scope of Support
This is a group container focused on feedback, critique, and implementation support related to brand visuals.
Strategy guidance is provided, but full brand or custom design work is not included.
7. Technology & Access
Participants are responsible for their own access to Slack, Zoom, Canva, or any other tools used during the program.
Instructions for accessing the workshops on Zoom and other membership spaces will be provided upon sign-up.
8. Intellectual Property
All materials provided during studio sessions are for your personal use only and may not be shared or redistributed.
You retain ownership of your own brand work; feedback and direction offered are suggestions, not mandates.
No classes or workshops created for the membership can be downloaded and used outside of the course membership.
You may download and keep any studio sessions or workshops you participated in.
No part of this membership can be resold or reshared without explicit consent.
9. Modifications
The facilitator (Nancy Guerrera) reserves the right to update or revise these terms with 14 days advance notice to the participants. Any updates, additions or changes will be communicated via email or Slack in advance.
